Reliance Communications initiates “Go Green”

BANGALORE, INDIA: Reliance Communications, launched ‘Go Green’ a tree planting initiative in Bangalore as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program.

Over 500 saplings including Neem, Honge and Silver Oak were planted in the premises of Government High School, Immadihalli, in Whitefield Bangalore, said a press release.

The campaign was inaugurated by J Crasta, co - chairman , Southern Regional Council (ASSOCHAM).

Over 200 RCOM employees, their families and students of the Government high school participated in the program. A painting competition was also organized at the school to promote the spirit of thinking and living green, the release added.

The program was also supported by Art of Living Foundation. The AOL Foundation said that “ WAYE (World Alliance for Youth Empowerment) have carried out numerous afforestation drives under its ''Great Green Project', through its enthusiastic youth volunteers supported by their families, communities, corporates, governments, and international organisations.”

R Swaminathan, Karnataka hub head, Reliance communications said “We are delighted to spend quality time on a noble initiative like tree planting which is essential in today’s context. We are committed to conserving the environment in and around us with many more such initiatives.”
