BANGALORE, INDIA: The Angel Pad tablet that costs Rs 2250 has been booked by a lot of people throughout the world. But so far, not even a single person who booked the tablet has confirmed receiving it. Several people created new PayPal accounts exclusively for ordering the tablet and even paid through their credit cards a sum of $ 40 to PayPal.

Customers were naturally worried and started putting queries on various internet forums regarding the authenticity of the Angel Pad ICS tablet.

A viewer Girish (name changed) wrote to us saying  ''I have my friend living in Shenzen city in China. Today I called him, he told me that the address mentioned (in the website of Angel Pad) is correct but the building mentioned in the address Sai Ge Technology Park is too big and has thousands of offices. Without detailed address of the office it is not possible to find this company''. We took this seriously and decided to take it one step ahead.

We, at CIOL, managed to get in touch with Dickson Seow, Director of Corporate Communications PayPal. According to him, people who have ordered the Angel Pad and paid money through PayPal are entitled for a full refund in case of non-delivery of the product provided they raise a dispute with PayPal within 45 days of placing the order.

We echoed certain queries that Angel Pad customers would have at this point to Dickson Seow, the responses to which are as follows:

1) Are the customers entitled for a refund if a product doesn't reach them in 7 working days as per your Terms & Agreement? If yes, how can they claim refund?

PayPal's Buyer Protection Policy protects our buyers from fraudulent transactions, for example, if the item they ordered is not delivered to them and if the item they receive is not what they ordered, people can claim refunds. What All our users in India have to do is login to their PayPal account at www.paypal.co.in and then open a dispute to get the refund process started. They must open the dispute within 45 days of the payment transaction. For more details of how our Buyer Protection Policy works, please go to: http://bit.ly/JynNNS.

2) Can people deactivate their newly opened PayPal account if they want to cancel the order that they would have placed?

You do not have to deactivate your PayPal account to cancel the order. Simply login to your account and file a dispute.

3) If the product is found to be fake, what measures will PayPal take against them?

If we find out from our investigation that a merchant has fraudulent business, we will put a hold on his account and process refunds based on the filed disputes from buyers. If the merchant account runs out of funds, PayPal will pay the remaining amount for the refunds.

4) Kindly provide a suitable contact number in India so that people can get in touch with the concerned persons whenever there is a dispute.

Due to security reasons, we recommend that our users in India login to their account at www.paypal.co.in, then email/call us via the email address/phone numbers provided under the contact section.

PayPal has taken up the investigation (to verify the genuineness of Angel Pad only after reading one of our reports cautioning people to think twice before buying the Angel Pad: Is the Rs. 2250 Angel Pad for real?).

However, in-order to get help from PayPal, make sure to file your dispute right away. They will need at least 50 disputes or more to take action.

Have you filed a dispute? Do let us know.
