How to register for COVID vaccine through CoWIN

The fight against pandemic is in its next phase, the Drug Control General of India (DCGI) has approved two Covid-19 vaccines. And to speed up the vaccination process, the central government has introduced an application named CoWIN (Covid Vaccine Intelligence Work). Beneficiaries can register for the vaccine through CoWIN. It is a government portal and app that links every vaccine dose to its recipient.

Documents needed

While registering, one needs to upload a photo identity, it can be an Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, and others.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan has announced that the vaccination will be free for frontline workers. The cost to the general public has not been announced yet.

Steps to register

To register and book an appointment for vaccination you can visit the CoWIN (https://www.cowin.gov.in) or Aarogya Setu (https://www.aarogyasetu.gov.in) portal or app.

Using the CoWIN portal, click on Register Yourself.

Enter your mobile number and click on the OTP (One Time Password).

Enter the OTP received on your mobile and click on the verify button.

Select the document – photo ID proof, and enter the number. Fill in the beneficiary's details, such as name, year of birth and gender. Then click on register.

Once successfully registered, you will get a confirmation message on your mobile. You can also check your "Account Details" on the portal as well as add more beneficiaries by clicking on Add More button. One person can add up to four people linked with one mobile number.

Then you can schedule an appointment by clicking on a calendar icon. You will be redirected to the "Book Appointment for Vaccination" page. Here you need to provide beneficiaries' address details - State/UT, District, Block and Pincode. Once you are done with all the details, click on the Search button, a list of vaccination centres will appear. Choose a centre, the available slots (date and capacity) will be displayed. After selecting the dates, click on "Book".

A confirmation page with "Appointment Successful" message will appear.
