Red Hat India launches Enterprise Class Linux Advanced Server

BANGALORE: Red Hat India Ltd. has launched its Enterprise Class Advanced
Server, which is the first enterprise-class Linux operating system in India. The
company claimed that the Red Hat Linux Server products would enable large
companies to accelerate their migration from costly, proprietary operating
systems to cost effective Linux running on Intel-based server systems.



Red Hat India, director Javed Tapia, while announcing the launch in Bangalore,
remarked, "With a changing global economy enterprises are looking for a
choice to remain competitive. The Red Hat Advanced Server would provide
enterprises a choice of high value, low-cost technology solutions". Tapia
said that the Red Hat Linux Advanced Server would be supported by some of the
world’s top enterprise software and hardware vendors, offering enterprise
customers a new series of infrastructure solutions, price, performance and
total-cost ownership benefits for organizations migrating from expensive,
proprietary operating systems to Red Linux on Intel hardware.



Red Hat also announced the launch of "Red Hat Alliance", a partner
program aimed at strengthening and enhancing relationships between Red Hat and
the premier technology providers to the enterprise market. It has planned to
extend these international relationships to the Indian market in the near
future. According to Tapia, Red Hat will translate these relationships to the
Indian market space to offer the customers Integrated support to run mission
critical enterprise applications on Linux operating system. Some of the partners
to the alliance include Alias Wavefront, BMC Software Corporation, Check Point
Software Technologies, Computer Associates, IBM Legato systems, Novell, Rogue
Wave Software, Softimage, Synopsis, TIBCO software, Veritas Software, etc.



Red Hat India would offer the Advanced server product in two categories namely
the Standard product which is inclusive of standard support and has been priced
at Rs 74,500 and the premium product, which is inclusive of the value added
services and higher support level agreements such as remote managed support for
mission critical deployments and is priced at Rs 1,24,500.
