The MAG1500 provides small enterprise networks with advanced, powerful, affordable email security, previously available only from higher capacity appliances. It defends the network against spam, viruses, phishing scams, identify theft and other types of email-based attacks. In addition, should attacks become overwhelming, the appliance automatically fails over to Red Condors hosted service without any interruption to email.

This scalable appliance provides resilient email security to networks with up to 100 email boxes and 20 domains. It complements Red Condors MAG2700 which supports up to 5,000 email boxes, the MAG3000 which supports up to 10,000 email boxes, and the MAG4000 which supports up to 20,000 email boxes. Any of these appliances can be installed in load sharing clusters, allowing small-scale installations to grow to larger ones with pay as you grow simplicity.

More than $ 2-billion is being spent worldwide each year on messaging security products and services, including a very large percentage by small and mid-sized businesses and other organizations, said Ron Longo, Red Condor president and CEO. But smaller networks have been an underserved segment of customers, despite the fact that email security is vital to their success. The MAG1500 provides them a right-sized appliance with the right balance of cost and advanced protection.

Until now, in order to access todays most advanced spam filtering technology, business with fewer than 100 email boxes have typically had to resort to hosted service, with email screening done externally by a service provider. A network-installed appliance, in contrast, offers cost benefits as the number of email boxes increases, plus security benefits for enterprises handling especially sensitive data.

Compared to alternative email security appliances, the MAG1500 offers best-in-class resiliency with Red Condors patented Vx Technology, the industrys first email spam protection that integrates a local network appliance with a hosted service. The resulting resiliency in computing resources helps network managers face the volume pressure that malicious email campaigns are increasingly placing on their network infrastructure. Vx Technology also allows the customers local network appliance to completely and automatically fail-over to Red Condors hosted service should their network go down for any reason.

With more than 90 percent of all email traffic now consisting of spam, these illegitimate campaigns are placing an enormous strain on customers CPU resources and hard drive space, Longo said. Red Condors Vx Technology provides resiliency to offload that pressure.

The MAG1500 and all of Red Condors other MAG appliances are continuously monitored and managed by Red Condors spam-fighting experts. This zero touch functionality precludes the need for onsite adjustment and tuning by the local IT manager. This means network administrators can stop worrying about spam, and focus on other things. Red Condor continually develops new defense strategies to adapt to the ever changing tactics employed by spammers, such as the Zombie Harvester Robot that detects fast flux spam campaigns, and adds these technologies to the MAG appliances as soon as they are available.

Other key features include industry leading spam capture rates, incredibly low false positive rates, centralized management, scalability, disaster recovery, roles-based administration, reporting for both the network administrator and end users, and both inbound and outbound filtering. The MAG1500 offers 160 gigabytes of quarantine, clustering, LDAP integration, mail spooling, per domain settings, and gigabit Ethernet service. Customers can add additional services as they add users to their network.

Red Condor backs its customers with multiple data centers and its 24x7 customer care center staffed by dedicated, spam-fighting email experts.
