SEOUL, S.KOREA: A better global economy and the launch of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system are expected to support demand for memory chips through the first half of 2010, the chief executive of Hynix Semicondcutor said on Tuesday.

"As long as the economy doesn't go into a double dip, demand should be OK," said Kim Jong-kap on the sidelines of a local technology forum.

Kim also said Hynix, the world's No.2 maker of memory chips, expected to increase its capital spending in 2010 from about 1 trillion won ($855.5 million) this year, but declined to elaborate.
