Rational releases latest version of its suite

BANGALORE: Rational Software has kept to its schedule of a new version every

six months by releasing its latest Rational Suite v2002. The product was

launched worldwide on November 12, 2001, and was released in the India market

today. Rational Suite v2002 is the seventh release of Rational suite in the last

three years with 15 products.

Inspite of the `dead’ market conditions, Rational is positive about the

latest suite making an impact in the market. "Our products are to automate

the process. Although companies are shedding manpower, corporates want to

maintain the productivity. Rational’s suite of products will help productivity

despite decrease of manpower. The new tools and enhancements in Rational Suite

v2002 help developers write software with the predictability and reliability

that can make a significant impact on their business," said Rational India

country manager M K Bharatee.

The v2002 also includes Rational’s latest product ProjectConsole, a Web

based tool to assist software development teams collaboratively manage projects

by automatically gathering key metrics about a software project and dynamically

generating a project Web site. The new product is available only with the latest

version of its suite of products. Existing customers, who are under maintenance

contract, can avail of the product and enhancements in the suite free of cost.

The enhancement includes Rational Developer Network (RDN) providing online

developer community with content and resources for building applications. The

enhancement in Rational’s ClearCase supports multiple platform and unified

change management for component based development, providing out of the box best

practices process, to name a few.
