MUMBAI: National distributor of IT products, Rashi Peripherals is all set to acquire Mumbai-based national distributor Zeta Technologies. While an official confirmation of this development is being awaited, reliable sources have confirmed the news.

After the acquisition, Zeta will cease to exist with Rashi Peripherals taking over all its agency operations. Zeta is currently distributor for Plextor, Altec Lansing, Powercom and Asus products. However, it is learnt that Zeta will continue to use its infrastructure, manpower and branch offices for its group ventures started last year called the Asia Powercom Company Ltd (A Indian joint venture between Zeta Technologies and Taiwan-based UPS manufacturer Powercom).

Zeta, which used to be a leading distributor for many products in the past, was going a little slow with its distribution business lately with only four brands at its disposal. The company, which has 14 branch offices across India, however, was more focused on its Asia Powercom Company Ltd.

The takeover will give Rashi three more brands to sell in addition to its existing line up of Asus, AMD, Compex, IBM, Logitech, Microtek, Netgear, Ozaki, Pixelview, Sony and XFX. Rashi, with agency revenue of Rs 164 crore and 33 branches, is the tenth largest national distributors in the country according to the DQCI Silver Club listing. This acquisition is expected to place the company at a much higher level in terms of revenue and product line.

Despite many attempts, Rashi officials were not available for comments on this development. However, Tejas Shah of Zeta has not denied this development but refused to give out more details until the companies come out with an official statement.
