HYDERABAD: Distributors of network security and management solutions Ras
Infotech is looking at extending its one-year partnership with F-Secure.
Hyderabad-based Ras is in talks to become one of F-Secure's partners in India.
According to sources, a formal deal is likely to be clinched within a month. Ras
officials, however, declined to comment on the issue.
Ras, which has an office in Dubai Internet City, is operating as an F-Secure
partner in the Middle East and North Africa.
In February F-Secure had opened its Indian subsidiary in Mumbai in order to
expand in India. It also has a sales office in Delhi. The Indian subsidiary
wants to target small and medium-sized companies besides the traditional large
enterprises.
In addition, Ras Infotech is also aiming to broaden its reseller's network in
India. As an immediate target the company is looking at Bangalore, Mumbai,
Chennai and Coimbatore before stretching to other parts of the country.
``We have already identified 10 resellers in Bangalore and we are also in the
process of appointing resellers in Mumbai, Chennai and Coimbatore. The idea is
first to have a set up in these cities and then extend our territory,'' explains
VR Reddy, chief executive officer, Ras Infotech.
Also on the cards are Ras Infotech's ambitious plans to have resellers in Sri
Lanka and Bangladesh. ``We have plans to start operations in Sri Lanka and
Bangladesh at a later stage. But the priority right now is to make it strong in
south India,'' tells Dilip, Ras Infotech's marketing advisor.
Apart from F-Secure, Ras Infotech also has partnership with Marshal, SmartLine,
NetIQ and Shavlik.
In India, Ras Infotech currently represents Marshal, SmartLine and Shavlik.
