Rapidigm (India) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rapidigm, Inc. has acquired 11 acres in Pune and has invested $ five million in the facility which will eventually house 3,000 people. The company will be investing $ two million in Noida, according to Rapidigm global delivery, Managing Director, Lokesh Sikaria.

He added that another $13 million would be invested in the country in the next 12 to 18 months. The focus in India will be ERP, remote-DBA, e-business, business intelligence and managed services for 80 clients both globally and in India including companies such as HP, GE and Whirlpool.

"Rapidigm will be investing $20 million in India. Close to 35 percent of Rapidigm's consultants are of Indian origin and the experience of working with them was a big factor for moving to India," said Rapidigm founder and CEO, Lew Wheeler.

He expects sales to pick up with SAP exploding and Oracle growing strongly. "This work could be funneled into the off-shore operations. With Oracle and PeopleSoft inking their deal, it is expected to open up a lot of pent-up demand. The company also expects to get more PeopleSoft maintenance contracts."

Rapidigm has 1,800 people in the US across 28 locations. India is the company's first major initiative outside of US. Rapidigm (India) Ltd has a development center in Noida and a marketing office in Bangalore.
