BANGALORE, 25 August : Wipro has appointed
V. Rama Kumar as chief executive, e-commerce in Wipro Software and
Services. He will report to Wipro Ltd. Vice chairman Vivek Paul. Prior to
this, Mr. Kumar was Wipro Corporation Corporate Vice President Mission
Quality and Information Management.
Mr Kumar joined Wipro Infotech as a Software Engineer in
1982 after a BTech from Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai, and MBA
from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He was Wipro Infotech
Solutions and Systems Integration Chief Executive before joining the
corporate office.
Wipro has also announced the appointment of Ram N.
Agarwal as corporate executive vice president, Wipro Corporation and a
member of Wipro's Corporate Executive Council. He will be responsible for
Quality, Information Management and corporation-wide initiatives on the
Wipro brand, sales and marketing and the Internet. In addition, he will
start a new corporation program for management of Innovation in 2000-2001
and chair Wipro Corporation Councils relating to Quality, Information
Management, Sales and Marketing and Innovation.
Mr Agarwal, a BTech from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and an MBA from
IIM-Calcutta began his career in Wipro in 1977 as
Area Sales Manager at Amalner, Maharashtra, in Wipro's Consumer Care
business. He has been President of peripherals system division since April
1994 and President of MAIT.
Agarwal will take over from V Rama Kumar on December 1,
1999. Until then, Rama Kumar will concurrently shoulder his current
responsibilities at Wipro Corporate office as well as at Wipro software
and services group.
