Quest updates soln portfolio for SQL Server

LOS ANGELES, US: Quest Software Inc., today announced that it has unveiled a complete update of its solution portfolio for SQL Server at Tech-Ed today.

Quest would also showcase its recently updated online resource, SQLServerPedia at TechEd.

Quest’s solutions are built to tackle the challenges faced by SQL Server professionals across all key areas of database management, said a press release.

Paired with free access to SQLServerPedia, the following product releases provide the community with a portfolio of solutions for SQL Server in the market include:

LiteSpeed for SQL Server: Quest’s market-leading backup and recovery solution, features, SmartDiff, a new patent-pending technology that enables users to store more than a terabyte of database backups on a single USB flash drive. It also reduces backup time from a few hours to just a few minutes, while providing even more flexible recovery options.

Capacity Manager for SQL Server: Quest’s solution for capacity trending and forecasting, now includes Capacity Today, which provides a quick overview of the system’s key areas of health, as well as an updated Capacity Planner, which allows users to easily manage SQL Server consolidation projects.

Spotlight on SQL Server Enterprise: a powerful tool for detection, diagnosis and resolution of performance issues in real time, instantly alerts on deadlocks blocking, and SQL bottlenecks. Enhanced notifications and troubleshooting capabilities point to the root of performance issues, which database administrators (DBAs) can quickly resolve with the new integrated SQL optimization functionality.

Foglight Performance Analysis for SQL Server: a workload performance tuning and diagnostic tool, now offers Performance Analysis WebView for web-enabled enterprise administration and alerting. Quest’s unique StealthCollect agent technology collects SQL metrics and performance data at a fraction of the impact of conventional methods.

Toad for SQL Server: a comprehensive development and administration tool, now offers instance and schema management, bridging the gap between Microsoft Management Studio and Visual Studio. Users now can compare and synch schema and table data, execute SQL scripts against multiple instances, recover data with the transaction log reader, manage SQL Server jobs, and recall scripts run at any point in time.

With a monthly growth rate of 20 percent for both visits and page views since its official launch last November, the free and increasingly popular blog/wiki combo has a redesigned web site and enhanced navigation, said the release.
