P7000 and P4000 are the next generation automated libraries based on the

architecture and features of the P3000 and P2000 tape libraries.

According to Scott Maccabe, senior vice president-sales, marketing

and service, Quantum ATL, "These libraries deliver on the SAN/NAS, high
capacity, throughput and connectivity for shared storage applications for

companies that implement a SAN, but find capacity and throughput inadequate for

data intensive applications."

The P7000 has up to 16 tape drives and 679 cartridges, and up to 149 TB capacity
and 1.7 TB/hour performance. It can scale up to 64 drives, 500 TB capacity and

7TB/hour performance. P4000 has up to 10 drives and 322 cartridges with up to 70

TB capacity and 1GB/hour performance. The p4000 can scale up to the same

performance as that of P7000.
