Qualcomm gets Meijers as MediaFLO GM

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Advanced wireless technologies developer Qualcomm Incorporated today appointed  Neville Meijers as its new senior vice president and general manager for MediaFLO Technologies.

In his new role, Meijers will lead all functional groups – including Business Development, Engineering, Marketing, Partner Relations, Product Management and Program Management – for Qualcomm’s expanding mobile broadcast business unit.

Meijers will oversee the global organization and will report directly to Andrew Gilbert, executive vice president of Qualcomm and president of MediaFLO Technologies and Qualcomm Internet Services.

Accoring to Gilbert, “Neville’s deep expertise in delivering worldwide broadcasting solutions and developing cross-cultural platform partnerships aligns with Qualcomm’s needs as we continue to expand MediaFLO’s presence in international markets. Under his leadership, we believe we can accelerate our global market traction and grow our strategic role in the mobile media value chain.”

Meijers joins Qualcomm from Discovery Communications where he recently served as executive vice president of Discovery Communications’ Antenna Audio, a world leader in audio and multimedia.

He has held senior executive positions in the areas of corporate strategy and business development for Discovery Communications worldwide and was managing director for Discovery Networks Asia based out of Singapore.

Meijers is a native of South Africa and earned both a master of business administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.

MediaFLO is a mobile broadcast platform for the delivery of high-quality entertainment and information, including streaming video and audio, Clipcasting media, IP datacasting and interactive services.
