SAN DIEGO,USA: Qualcomm Inc. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies Inc., has introduced the Qualcomm Internet of Everything Connection Manager (IoE CM), an application-level connectivity framework designed to make it easier for system designers and application developers to access the power of Qualcomm Gobi 3G/4G LTE modem chipsets.

Qualcomm Gobi and IoE CM are products of Qualcomm Technologies. The IoE CM is designed to provide a simplified high-level application programming interface (IoE CM API) that allows access to the cellular modem's many capabilities, as well as enables faster and easier application development on the integrated processor present in Gobi MDM9x15 chipsets. Information on the IoE CM is available to the IoE developer ecosystem via the Qualcomm Developer Network (QDN) website.

"Cellular modems are being designed into more and more of the devices and appliances we interact with daily. As the range and number of connected devices in the Internet of Everything expands, so too does the need for application developers to access the connectivity functions those chips provide," said Nakul Duggal, VP of Product Management for Qualcomm Technologies. "Our IoE CM is designed to simplify this process and enable developer and system designers to build rich and powerful connected experiences based on Qualcomm Technologies' LTE modem chipsets."

The IoE CM framework, which sits on top of low-level modem access protocol and drives interaction with the carrier network, was designed to simplify the increasingly complex interactions required by current LTE-class modems in connected end devices such as cars, smart meters, medical devices, industrial routers and more. The IoE CM currently supports API compatibility across Qualcomm Technologies' popular MDM9xx5 3G and 4G modem portfolio. It is anticipated that these APIs will be extended to provide access to newer modem functionality as future-generation chipsets are developed.

Connected device scenarios using the IoE CM will be demonstrated at the Developer Network Expert Bar in the Mobile Innovations Showcase at UplinqTM 2013 wireless ecosystem conference, which will be held Sept. 3-5, 2013 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. As Qualcomm's annual conference, Uplinq provides a cross-platform view of how to exploit the powerful capabilities of today's leading mobile devices to produce the most compelling user experiences and cultivate the business connections essential to be successful in mobile.
