The Union Budget presented by the Finance Minister has certainly given an impetus for the dot.com companies. The dot.coms have welcomed the Budget proposals, since they feel that it will lead to more PC penetration and thereby increase the Internet usage in the country. According to K Vaitheeswaran, Vice-President, Marketing, Fabmart India Ltd, the reduction in customs duties on computers and peripherals is certainly a good step forward. It will lead to the increase of PC penetration in the country, with PCs becoming more affordable, and as such will lead to more and more Internet usage. With the benefits for the ISPs being announced, this will hopefully bring down the rates of accessing the Net. The incentives for the VCs being announced will definitely help more dot.coms and start-ups to come up.

MatexNet Pvt. Ltd. managing director S. Jagan Vasan said: "It is great to know that VC funding has been liberalized and the FII limit has been raised to 40 percent. Also overseas investment opportunities will position a faster growth phase in globalizing and integrating India with the rest of the world. Growth will result because of this. I am not too sure about the direct benefits to manufacturers. Facilities for rural connectivity looks good but it should be implemented well. ESOP taxation is yet to be made clear.

Maritimei.com CEO & Founder, Capt. Sumit Gupta, said it was a very positive and welcome budget for the dot.com and the IT industry.
