Pureview plans LCD facility in India

MUMBAI: Pureview Technologies Pvt Ltd has rolled out of its first batch of LCD monitors from the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka.



The company, which is the first electronics company in India to utilize the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between SAARC nations, also plans to set up a manufacturing base in India. The company made an initial investment of $3.3 million and plans to further double its spend in India.

It is also the first Indian LCD monitor company and the only second Indian IT company, to set up a manufacturing base in Sri Lanka under the FTA, at the country’s Export Processing Zone. According to a company press release, the facility will help reduce the time to ship monitors to India from an average of 20 days to two days enabling companies to keep a better tab on the market pulse.





"This also marks ahead-of-time turnaround for making the manufacturing facility up and running," the company press release claimed. Pureview had earlier in March 2004 announced that its manufacturing facility would be fully functional within 90 days.

The ISO 9000 certified facility can currently manufacture up to 50,000 monitors, annually. Pureview Technologies has technical collaboration with Taiwan-based Funet and for technology transfer.

Pureview also has plans to introduce other products like notebooks, LCD monitor-cum-TV and plasma televisions within six months in India.
