Punjab govt conducts 5-day e-governance programme

CHANDIGARH, INDIA: The Punjab Governance Reforms Department had conducted a five days Specialized Training for e-Governance Program (STeP) on e-governance project management.

The Training Program was conducted in coordination with National Institute of SMART Government (NISG), Hyderabad at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MAGSIPA) in Chandigarh.

As per an official spokesperson of the Directorate of Governance Reforms, Punjab, "This workshop was organized for Directors, Joint Directors, Project Managers and Nodal Officers of state government to equip them with skills and knowledge on project management for e-governance projects."

The workshop which was attended by officers from various state departments was aimed at sensitizing the participants about the e-governance projects.

The participants were trained to effectively scope the project, estimate the efforts, time duration of each activity for the project including work-breakdown structure of the project.

Rajnish Malhotra, Head, SeMT, who inaugurated the workshop emphasized on the issue of effective project management for success of all e-Governance projects. He also mentioned about the importance of effective Business Process Re-engineering for the success of all e-governance activities.
