Pune VC wins IBM award

PUNE: University of Pune (UoP) vice-chancellor Prof Ashok Kolaskar has been selected for the first `IBM VC of the Year' award.

The award will be presented to Prof Kolaskar at the all India vice-chancellors' conference to be held later this year in Hyderabad, the University said in a press release.

The award comes in recognition of the University's maximum implementation of information technology in the governance of academics.

The statement added that the UoP is next only to the Central University, Hyderabad, in terms of making widespread use of IT in its day-to-day functioning.
