CIOL: What kind of strategies have you planned to sustain the growth momentum in today's challenging market situation?

SN: India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world with a significant customer base for us.

PTC has extended its PLM portfolio to include Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) capabilities to help manage development of software-intensive "smart" products, as well as to include supply chain management (SCM) capabilities, particularly in the retail sector where industry analyst firm, IDC, recently acknowledged PTC as the clear market share leader.

With an acquisition, PTC entered into service lifecycle management (SLM) last yearwhich helps reduce the product lifecycle cost of manufacturing companies in the challenging market conditions. This gives PTC the broadest footprint of enabling technology and largest customer base in the fast emerging market.

Today, the company delivers technology solutions across the broadest definition of a product's lifecycle - from conception and design to sourcing and service.

CIOL: With the fast changing technologies, which are the futuristic technology trends likely to be witnessed?

SN: PLM today isn't just about CAD, PDM and tools for collaboration. Software like ALM, SLM, and others for after-market services is the way to prepare for a future.

PTC has certainly moved into a position to meet a major shift in the way products will be developed. All manufacturing companies are becoming service companies and the physical products are becoming more and more dependent on software. This software leads to smart products.

PTC bought ThingWorx, creator of an award-winning platform for building and running applications for the Internet of Things. This helps PTC's ability to support manufacturers who wants to create and service smart and connected products.

CIOL: What trend we can expect in this segment for year 2014?

SN: All the manufacturing companies are looking at how they can create and service smart, connected products. In the Internet of Things (IoT) era, customers are bringing to market increasingly smart and connected products which can generate value in new ways as streams of real-

time operational data are captured, analysed, and shared to deepen a company's understanding of its products' performance, use, and reliability.

PTC, after acquiring ThingWorx, possesses an innovation platform that will allow us to accelerate how we help our customers capitalize on the market opportunity that the IoT presents. The opportunity, however, goes well beyond this immediate pragmatic application. Industries of all types are poised to see disruption from the Internet of Things.

The expanding networks of connected sensors and devices, and a growing ecosystem of ThingWorx partners is forming to capitalize on this growth.
