We will be delivering and expanding our cutting edge solutions and services to Automotive, Aerospace, Ship Building, Engineering, Retail, Footwear and Apparel, Government and Defense customers in India. PTC is a market leader with a large customer base globally and in India.

CIOL: What kind of strategies have you planned to sustain the growth momentum in today’s challenging market situation?

SN: India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world with a significant customer base for us.

As a strategy we always looked at changing environment and industry needs and offered products and services to help our customers achieve competitive advantage. PTC has pursued an aggressive strategy of acquisitions and rapid organic development to expand its offerings into fast-growing markets.

PTC has extended its PLM portfolio to include Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) capabilities to help manage development of software-intensive “smart” products, as well as to include supply chain management (SCM) capabilities, particularly in the retail sector where industry analyst firm, IDC, recently acknowledged PTC as the clear market share leader.

With an acquisition, PTC entered into service lifecycle management (SLM) last yearwhich helps reduce the product lifecycle cost of manufacturing companies in the challenging market conditions. This gives PTC the broadest footprint of enabling technology and largest customer base in the fast emerging market.

Today, the company delivers technology solutions across the broadest definition of a product’s lifecycle – from conception and design to sourcing and service.

CIOL: With the fast changing technologies, which are the futuristic technology trends likely to be witnessed?

SN: PLM today isn’t just about CAD, PDM and tools for collaboration. Software like ALM, SLM, and others for after-market services is the way to prepare for a future.

PTC has certainly moved into a position to meet a major shift in the way products will be developed. All manufacturing companies are becoming service companies and the physical products are becoming more and more dependent on software. This software leads to smart products.
PTC bought ThingWorx, creator of an award-winning platform for building and running applications for the Internet of Things. This helps PTC’s ability to support manufacturers who wants to create and service smart and connected products.

CIOL: What trend we can expect in this segment for year 2014?

SN: All the manufacturing companies are looking at how they can create and service smart, connected products. In the Internet of Things (IoT) era, customers are bringing to market increasingly smart and connected products which can generate value in new ways as streams of real-
time operational data are captured, analysed, and shared to deepen a company’s understanding of its products’ performance, use, and reliability.

PTC, after acquiring ThingWorx, possesses an innovation platform that will allow us to accelerate how we help our customers capitalize on the market opportunity that the IoT presents. The opportunity, however, goes well beyond this immediate pragmatic application. Industries of all types are poised to see disruption from the Internet of Things.

The expanding networks of connected sensors and devices, and a growing ecosystem of ThingWorx partners is forming to capitalize on this growth.

CIOL: What is top on your agenda for 2014? Are there any major expansion plans?

SN: India is a growing market for us and over the past 25 years. PTC has worked with thousands of manufacturers around the world to help them unlock the potential of their product designs.

Today, we have grown from a CAD company to a PLM company to a full-
fledged software company providing technology solutions across the product’s lifecycle, i.e., from conception and design to sourcing and service.

We have huge customer base in India using CAD products, mainly, Pro/ENGINEER and PTC Creo products who are looking for a complete product lifecycle solution including Product lifecycle management (PLM), Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Supply Chain Management(SCM) and Service Lifecycle Management (SLM).

We are planning to reach out to our Existing and new customers through our eco system of channel partners, SI partners, strategic service partners and direct sales team, and help our customer in achieving the competitive advantage using our products.

We currently have huge focus on training and create well trained resources across India. We have many Engineering colleges, Diploma Institutes and other training institutes using PTC products to train their students on various products as they find value during their employment. We have more than 100 Authorized Training Centres of PTC providing training for students across country using PTC’s Global Standard Curriculum and training methodologies.

CIOL: Please explain your role in PTC India’s market growth and your vision for PTC?

SN: I am excited to join PTC, which owns a long history of technology innovations and is the leader intechnology solutions that transform the way companies create and service products. I look forward to working with the large PTC family of employees and partners in India and abroad.

As Country Manager of PTC, I would like to reach out to manufacturing companies and product developing companies in India and help them achieve sustained product and service advantage through PTC’s world-class CAD, PLM and SLM Solutionsacross the entire product lifecycle.

I hope to support and drive PTC’s growth in India through strategic sales and better customer relations.
