NIMA, acronym for NASHIK INDUSTRIES & MANUFACTURERS’ ASSOCIATION is the representative body of industries located in NASHIK District. NIMA was established on 24th January in the Year 1971 by (Late) Padmashri Babubhai Rathi, himself being the very first Member. From a very small institution with 97 Members by end-1971, to day in 2007 it has grown as the main representative body of all industries in this district, with membership strength of more than 2,500 Nos. consisting of Large, Medium & Small Scale category Units and Associate Members.

As the spokesman of the industries in Nashik District, NIMA takes up matters of interest with the government agencies at State and District-levels and champions the cause of industrial development in this city-Nashik, District. In addition, it also represents the industry in various professional and government bodies.

NIMA has an excellent track record of solving number of industries-related problems and supporting the development and growth prospects of industries in Nashik District. It is recognized by all government bodies and its views are considered while formulating schemes related to industries / industrial areas of Nashik District.

As an impetus to the industrial development, NIMA conducts Industrial Exhibition once in 3 years. The last i.e. 9th Exhibition was conducted in January 2006 which attracted participation not only from the industries in Nashik District and other Districts of Maharashtra, but also from industries in neighbouring States, i.e. Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, etc.

NIMA has expanded its activities not only for the benefit of its Members, but also for the whole of Nashik District. In order to acknowledge the spectacular achievements to the credit of industries in Nashik District, NIMA proposes to present NIMA EXCELLENCE Awards one-in-3 years. The factors considered for finalization of awards are: Business Development, Technological Upgradation, Quality, Development of Exports, Import Substitution, Environmental Protection & Safety Measures, and Labour Relations, Training & Development.

Nashik is the fast growing industrial city in the country with industrial suburbs spanning all around the city of Nashik with continuous development of industries, in and around Nashik. Thus, the role of NIMA is becoming more and more important and expectations from NIMA are increasing. NIMA is already geared to carry out its responsibilities in the changing environment and industrial scenario.

The objectives of the Association are:

  • To promote healthy growth and development of industries and to encourage friendly feelings and relations amongst the industrial community of Nashik District and to foster mutual co-operation amongst those engaged in Industry.

  • To secure, wherever necessary, organized and concerted action on all matters and subjects involving the interests of the Industry.

  • To take all steps necessary to promote the well-being of the industrial community and to devise ways and means of promoting its interests.

  • To consider problems and difficulties confronting various types and categories of industries, with a view to finding solutions and to submit representations / memorandums to the authorities concerned on the same.

  • To study the legislative, executive and other actions of the Union and State Governments as also the Municipal and other local authorities affecting particular industry (ies), in general; to study their effects on industrial development of the country and to take such actions, as may be deemed necessary, to bring to the notice of the authorities concerned, the adverse effects of such actions on any particular industry (ies), in general.

  • To collect and disseminate statistical data and other information of interest to the industrial community / NIMA- members

  • To create public awareness/ opinion with regard to the character, scope, importance and need of industrial enterprise in the country, and to channel public opinion on the significant needs and importance of industrial development, and in so doing, arrange to hold Conferences, Seminars, Exhibitions etc., from time to time and to appoint Technical Consultancy Panels to improve quality of goods manufactured by the Member-Units of the Association, in particular and other industries, in general. To create awakening and focus attention on matters affecting the Industry and the economic development of the country, in general.

  • To advance and promote commercial and industrial education to be found and support establishments and institutions for the same.

  • To institute Special Enquiries  Committees and Investigation Panels or Expert Bodies and/or to nominate or depute such Expert Members of the Association to such bodies, panels or committees in order to assist and remove difficulties or problems of the Member-Units.

  • To try to settle by arbitration, commercial and industrial disputes, if any, between the Members of the Association and/or between the employees and their managements, if both the parties are agreeable to such a course of action.

  • To secure, wherever possible organized and concerted action on all subjects involving the interests of the Members/Member-Units including regulating conditions of employment of industrial labour in various industries represented by the Members of the Association.

  • To create healthy, interaction with industries by organizing safety Measures, Fire Fighting Units, First-Aid-Centres, Mobile Hospitals, Posts & Telegraphs, Telephone/Telex/Fax facilities and such other amenities as are useful and beneficial to the industrial community.

  • To organize meetings, lectures, study-classes and social functions in furtherance of the aims and objectives of the Association’s etc. for use by the Members of the Association and the industrial community.

  • To organize, promote and develop exports of goods manufactured by the Member-Units, in particular and other industries, in general.

  • And, generally to do all that may be necessary or incidental to the attainment of the above objects.
