Priyanka Chopra's 'googly' to Sachin Tendulkar

BANGALORE, INDIA: If cricket is a religion, Sachin is our god. We have heard these chants reverberate across stadiums in the world.

Now, although the Indian Premier League is back in its fifth edition, Indian cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar falls short, when it comes to Twitter.

In a survey — Most Influential Indian poll — conducted by integrated digital marketing agency Pinstorm India, the Little Master gets a distant 33rd position, incidentally pushed down even by Poonam Pandey. The small-time Bollywood actress, who gets more fame out of her 'desperate antics' involving cricketers than from own profession, is placed 31st on the list.

Equally surprising is that another actress, though of better acclaim, Priyanka Chopra, tops the poll, restricted to people's presence and 'clout' on Twitter alone. She performed at the Opening Nite of the IPL 2012 in Chennai.

It has diplomat-turned-politician Sashi Tharoor placed second, closely followed by veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan. Ram Gopal Varma, Hrithik Roshan, Kiran Bedi, Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Akshay Kumar and Siddharth complete the top 10 of the list of 100 'influencers' from India.

As far as fan following are concerned, Big B leads the pack with 2,429,956 followers, with Priyanka (2,235,337) snapping at his heels and leaving the competition trailing way behind.

For the record, Sachin has 2,214,220, SRK 2,093,677 and Tharoor 1,301,084 followers.
