The deployments are based on the recently announced Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) Select for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, a company release said.

The release added that customers can also leverage the converged infrastructure of storage, servers and networking provided in Hitachi UCP solutions to run Microsoft SharePoint applications.

The Hitachi UCP family of solutions simplifies private cloud deployments by providing converged infrastructure solutions that are pre-validated for mission-critical workloads. Hitachi Data Systems and Infosys will develop joint architectures, technical training and certification programs. The two companies will also conduct collaborative sales and marketing activities worldwide. These activities will enable Hitachi Data Systems and Infosys to provide their global customers with agile and tailored enterprise-class cloud solutions that enable faster cloud deployments with far less risk.

The latest converged infrastructure solutions from Hitachi Data Systems bring predictable performance and high scalability to customers who want to adopt private clouds. The solutions also ensure up to 99.999 percent availability of applications and services. Leveraging the Hitachi converged infrastructure for Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint, Hitachi Data Systems and Infosys are able to offer in-premise cloud and third-party data center hosting with massive scalability - up to 96,000 mailboxes - and high availability through Mailbox Availability Group (DAG), N+1 server failover and enterprise-class RAID protection.
