BANGALORE: Asia’s biggest IT event, Bangalore IT.Com will be inaugurated by the President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam. The annual event is scheduled to be held from October 28 to November 1, 2002. This was informed by Government of Karnataka, IT Secretary, Vivek Kulkarni.
"Soon after the inauguration, the President will participate in the student Internet world, where he would personally take lessons on Internet for about 600 students who will be physically present in the venue and about additional 600 students through the Internet," informed Kulkarni.
An honorary lecturer, Kalam, would probably be the first President in the world, in power, who would be giving a lecture on on Internet for a class of 1200 students. After giving lessons on Internet to the students, the President, would participate in the e-governance panel discussion to be held in Vidhana Soudha on the inaugural day of the event.
The President will be accompanied to the panel discussion by noted premiers like the e-commerce minister of United Kingdom, IT Minister of Mauritius and Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Maharastra.
"The invitations to the other states Chief Ministers have been sent from Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and confirmations on the same is yet to be received," said Kulkarni.
