Premji's son joins Wipro

BANGALORE, INDIA: IT bellwether Wipro today got the prince to its business fiefdom. Chairman Azim Premji's son Rishad Premji joined the company as an employee, on the day of announcement of the results for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.

Answering a query, Premji said: "The management has cleared Rishad's appointment on Wednesday and he has joined today officially". Rishad will be under induction for some days and for the time being he is attached to Finance Solutions under Girish Paranjape, president- Finance solutions. His designation is yet to be worked out and his salary is not disclosed.

Speaking on Rishad's appointment, Girish said: " He would be looking after new initiatives such as platform based integrated services, knowledge based services". He is studying, evaluating the situation, and once he gets hang of it, he would be given independent charge, Girish said.

Rishad is being treated same as the other employees and the same rules and regulations apply to him, Sources said.
