BANGALORE, INDIA: Rishad Premji, the eldest son of Wipro chairman Azim Premji, is set to join the company “at a level commensurate with his background and experience,” the company said in a statement.
Sources claim that Rishad is slated to don the role of a business development manager under Girish Paranjpe, president of Wipro’s Finance Solutions Division.
His appointment, however, is subject shareholders’ approval, as he is a relative of a director. The appointment of Premji’s son is speculated as Wipro chairman’s succession plan.
Junior Premji was with a consulting firm in London. An MBA from Harvard Business School, he had worked briefly with a few companies including General Electric and a consulting firm.
Premji senior owns 84 per cent stake in Wipro. His second son Tariq Premji, 25, works with the Azim Premji Foundation that focuses on social issues and children's education.
