BANGALORE: US based PrairieComm Inc. has set up its first off shore

development center in Bangalore. It is to become the company’s second largest

development center with about 50 professionals forming its strength by the end

of this year. PrairieComm is engaged in supplying integrated base band

processors and software for wireless handset manufacturers such as Seimens,

Panasonic and Samsung, to name a few of their customers.

The company’s CEO, John Diehl, said, "The software talent in India

with relevant telecommunication application experience makes India one of the

preferred destination for a development center for us. India’s educational

infrastructure with excellent English speaking skills combined with the

geographical location of India, nearer to Taiwan and Japan, where some of our

customers are, reinstated the decision of setting up the offshore development in

India."

PrairieComm plans to invest $ 10 million in the span of next three years in

its Indian development center. The Bangalore development center will focus on

developing 3G protocol stack and 3G related software development. Currently the

company is in the status of shipping 2G chipsets to its customers.
