Pradeep Gupta honoured with 'Karmaveer Puraskaar'

Pradeep GuptaNEW DELHI, INDIA: CyberMedia Group chairman Pradeep Gupta has been awarded with the prestigious ‘Karmaveer Puraskaar 2009’ in the category of ‘Corporate Citizen for Holistic Media Initiatives”.

The award, instituted by iCONGO - Confederation of NGO’s, are the Annual National Awards for Social Justice and Citizen Action. The award is given to the citizens who have been pivotal in leading change by working on social issues.

This award is being conferred on Pradeep Gupta for his social intervention plan in the IT / BPO industry, where he championed the issue of disability and changed the outlook of this booming sector to make it accessible to the disabled.

PG is also currently involved in making all Indian websites disabled-friendly. His ‘Getting Girls to School’ programme results in 1500 girls entering education every year.

Karmaveer Puraskaar seeks to celebrate and inspire individual citizen social responsibility, justice and action initiatives and are held every year on 26 November, the day the Indian Constitutional Pledge was signed.

The idea behind these awards is to nominate and select citizens in the corporate, government, media, SME, students and other sectors who have contributed to social justice and action by going beyond business as usual and thus bring the change that they want to see in the world. The award is only bestowed on individual citizens and is not meant for any organization.
