NEW DELHI: Academy of Telecom Management (ATM), an Indian telecom management
development and policy research academy has announced its first post-graduate
program in telecom management.
ATM is being developed as a center of excellence for developing state-of-the-art
management skills in telecom. Established with the support of industry bodies,
technology players and key operators, the academy sees business rules changing
in step with the new technology, and management requirements also shifting
accordingly.
The academy is offering a unique flexibility to its students by introducing two
levels of post-graduate diplomas: the 'O' level and 'A' level, each requiring a
one-year course of study. The 'O' level course, for which admissions are
currently open, starts this year. It is also planning a part-time program to be
introduced shortly.
The Academy has on its faculty some of the best known names in the field of
management education and senior telecom professionals who are qualified or come
from leading institutes like Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Technology
(IITs), and the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS). Its visiting faculty will
also include industry leaders and specialists, policy-makers, as well as experts
from abroad.
The Academy has the support of Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI),
Association of Basic Telecom Operators (ABTO), Internet Service Providers
Association of India (ISPAI), technology leaders like Alcatel, and key telecom
operators among others.
The Academy is also negotiating alliances with international telecom research
and training institutions.The research and other studies will also target
industry and business as well as policy-making organizations.
