Polycom names Arijit Bose as CIO

BANGALORE, INDIA: Polycom, Inc., a player in the field of unified communications (UC), announced on Wednesday the appointment of Arijit Bose as senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO).

He will be having the global responsibility for Polycom’s IT organisation and strategic transformation, said a press release.

As part of his global IT responsibility, Bose will also oversee Polycom’s internal global visual communications network, which is powered by the Polycom UC Intelligent Core infrastructure platform and supports nearly 100,000 video calls per month, the release added.

Bose joins Polycom from UTStarcom, a provider of IP-based networking and telecommunications solutions, where he served as senior vice president, CIO, and business transformation officer.

At UTStarcom, Bose developed a global information strategy, re-engineered business processes and systems to drive the transformation of the company, and drove the integration process for several acquisitions.

“Ari joins Polycom at what we believe is an inflection point for our company and our industry,” said Michael Kourey, Polycom executive vice president and chief financial officer.

“Ari’s leadership, technical competence, and proven track record in business transformation and efficiency make him the ideal CIO for Polycom at this exciting stage for our company,” he added.

Bose said Polycom is an impressive company with a tremendous opportunity to capture the momentum of the fast-growing UC market.

Prior to UTStarcom, Bose was vice president and CIO at 3Com. In addition, he has held senior management roles at Apple, Nortel, and Quantum.

Bose has a master’s degree in software engineering from the National University in San Diego and a bachelor’s degree from Delhi University.
