The SIP-based call server allows customers to deploy best-of-breed Wi-Fi telephony solutions with confidence and without compromising functionality, said a press release.

It stated that SIP interoperability testing is an ongoing program to support new call server platforms and feature releases as they become available.

“SIP interoperability testing and verification is critical to meet the market’s growing demand for open standards-based IP telephony solutions,” commented Abner Germanow, director, IDC's Enterprise Communications Infrastructure research.

He added that standards-based clients would enable the customers to deploy a mix of wired and wireless endpoints to fit a variety of user demands without having to compromise for any particular user profile.

The release mentioned that it allows the wireless telephones to operate as extensions of the VoIP call server, and includes the most commonly used business telephone features including dial by extension, conferencing, call transfer, call forwarding, and caller ID.

“We continue to lead the market by being proactive and engaged with both our customers and partners,” said Peter White, APAC head of voice sales at Polycom.
