According to the Chennai police department, the three – Krishnan, Jyoti, and Nandagopal had arrested at an internet café on Sunday, following a tip-off from Nagpur police.

The three have now been detained for further questioning

“The special team headed by Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Rai Rathore, had been formed to go into the operation of online cricket bookies in the city. The mobile phone call records of a bookie, who was arrested in Nagpur, had shown that he was frequently in touch with some persons in Chennai,” a statement from the Chennai police said.

“The bookies were said to be encouraging cricket buffs to bet online for their favourites using credit cards. After each match was over, the money was also transferred online,” the statement added.
