Shri Venkateswara Mobile & Electronics Manufacturing hub at Tirupati will create more than 10,000 jobs within a year and would contribute at least 5 percent to all-India target of 15 lakh jobs by the year 2019.

Welcoming the move, Pankaj Mohindroo, National President, Indian Cellular Association (ICA) and Chairman, Fast Track Task Force (FTTF), said, "Andhra Pradesh under the dynamic leadership of N Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister, is fast turning out to be a preferred destination for mobile handset and component manufacturing companies. Suitable regulatory interventions and proactive support provided by the state administration during the past 4-6 months are turning out to be the clinching factors to turn these investment decisions in favour of the state,"

"Foxconn has already started operations in Andhra Pradesh for manufacturing brands like Xiomi, Gionee. Other important brands like Micromax, UTL (Karbonn) and Celkon would be kick starting their manufacturing operations soon", he added.

"Not only are ICA's efforts directed to transform the state into a manufacturing hub, we are also working with the AP Government to set up design and incubation centers to establish the state as a truly global scale mobile handset manufacturing hub based on PM Modi’s Make in India and Digital India vision,” Mohindroo said.

According to him, mobile phone manufacturing in FY2015-16 will grow by more than 110 percent compared to FY2014-15. “However, even with this robust growth, we will reach only 12 percent of our target of 3 lakh crores which we have to achieve by 2019,” Mohindroo said.

It must be noted that FTTP was set up by the GOI to promote mobile handset manufacturing eco-system in India in India by 2019 with the objective to produce approx. 500 million handsets valued at approximately Rs 3,00,000 crore and generating employment opportunities for more than 15 lakh people.
