Tweets appeared urging followers to make donations to 'PM National Relief Fund for COVID-19' through cryptocurrency and bitcoins. Not the one to hack Paytm Mall
The Twitter account is of PM Modi's personal website narendramodi.in. It has over 2.5 million followers. The tweets asked the massive followers to donate in cryptocurrency and bitcoins. It also said that this hacker was not responsible for hacking Paytm Mall.
This was in reference to cybersecurity firm Cyble's claim on August 30. It said that a hacker group called John Wick was behind a data breach at Paytm Mall. Cyble had also claimed that the hacker group asked for ransom. However, Paytm said it did not find any data breach in its system during its investigation.

Other related tweets have now disappeared, as a counteraction measure from Twitter. A spokesperson has confirmed having knowledge of the issue in response to the media query. He said, "We are aware of this activity" They took steps to secure the account. "We are actively investigating the situation," he added.
The Global Hacking Situation
In July, many notable personalities' accounts also fell prey to hacking. The hacking of PM Modi's Twitter account comes after the high-profile hacking incident. The hackers had asked the followers that they'll double the money from Jeff Bezos, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates' accounts. It didn't even spare Twitter's own support account.
