PM Modi launched the eGram Swaraj and Swamitva Portal for Villages

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Gram Panchayat Sarpanch today in the occasion of Panchayati Raj Diwas. During the interaction, he inaugurated the eGram Swaraj and Swamitva Portal and App. He interacted with Sarpanchs from across the nation via video conferencing.

What is the eGram Swaraj Portal and App?

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj introduced the eGram swaraj portal in India. It will help in "decentralised planning, progress reporting and work-based accounting." The app will have the following aspects:

- Finances and Accounting

- Geo-tagging of assets

- Progress reporting

- Gram Panchayat profiling

- Action plan creation

- Activity output

- The number of approved GPDPs (Gram Panchayat Development Plans)

In support of the App, PM Modi said:

E-Gram Swaraj App is nothing but Simplified Work-based Accounting Application. This app is a big move towards the holistic digitization of gram panchayats. In future, this app will be a single point platform for keeping all accounts of the gram panchayats. Going forward there will be no need to use different platforms for different needs of the gram panchayats.

It is a part of the Digital India initiative that brings rural governance closer to central governance. The website can be accessed at https://egramswaraj.gov.in/

And the App can be found on the Google Play store. The iOS version is currently under development. The Rajasthan State already has a similar website portal available for Gram Panchayats.

What is the Swamitva Yojana App and Portal?

The Government launched Swamitva Yojana portal gives citizens the right documents to their entitled land. In a statement today, PM Modi said:

Under this initiative, all the houses and properties in villages will be mapped through drones, after which, the people will get the title deed for their property. This will be instrumental in better planning of the infrastructural programs in villages. It will also remove the apprehensions and fear among people related to property.

More details are still awaited. PM Modi also said that the pandemic is a learning for the nation. We have to become self-reliant as a nation.
