Plustek unveils multi-purpose OptiCard 821

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Plustek recently launched OptiCard 821 in the Indian market. It is a multi-purpose scanner that can be used for scanning multiple cards and photo documents, including A6 business cards, credit cards, thick plastic embossed cards, checks, insurance cards, social security cards, identity cards and even photographs.

The OptiCard comes bundled with Business Card Reader (BCR) which provides automatic recognition of company name, job title, person's name, address, telephone and fax number as shown on the business cards. Users have the choice of saving the files to Excel or sending them to Outlook. 

One can even send them mails from the database directly, or can shave or synchronize with a host of mail messaging options, including WinCE PDA, Palm, Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook Express, Excel, Lotus Notes, CSV and VCard files. 

The OptiCard 821 features a scanning area of 105x148mm and supports a maximum of 500mm through TWAIN. The inbuilt image software enables users to convert scanned documents into ‘searchable PDF’ and various types of image formats.

Additionally with ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Sprint Plus software, the card recognizes up to 177 languages and can scan multi-page documents at a time.  

Dr Karen Ku, VP, Plustek said, “OptiCard 821 is a utility product, not only for the front office applications but also for the core applications. All consumer facing organizations—be it retail outlets of mobile phones, utility bill payment centers, service centers—should have this scanner because of its ease of usage and high capability.” 

She added, “In the utility bill payment center, the customer facing executive accepts payments either in cash or check along with filled up forms supporting the payment. If the person has the OptiCard 821, one can scan the document and put it in to the repository in digital mode. It can optimise the productivity of the people in the organization, and the authorities can go through the repository and update the profiles of the consumers.  

Available with one-year warranty, Plustek OptiCard 821 is priced at Rs 4,000.
