MUMBAI: UK-based Computer Services Software Association (CSSA) is currently
lobbying with Overseas Labour Services to lay down new regulations that would
give tremendous boost in software exports from India. With the new legislation,
Indian computer professionals will be able to fly to UK at short notice, using a
standard visitor's visa rather than a work permit which can take up to two
months to process.
CSSA executive director Tony Lewis said, "We are talking to the OLS
about cutting the burden of the red tape and change the rules to expedite the
process of short term and time-specific assignments. This would shorten the
interim period for any project and make it easier for both OLS and the
outsourcing company." Rave Technolgies MD Anand Jhaveri said, "Such a
legislation would make Indian software development companies significantly more
competent as they would be able to respond to customer's need much faster."
