Sometimes we fuss too much about the brand name, and wouldn't settle for anything beyond the popular brands, for instance, iPhone. They say, once you use an iPhone, you wouldn't use any other. Well, that's for the brand snobs, but there are some quirky, weird and sometimes downright bizarre phone names that all of us would reject.
Nokia, for instance, has always had some weird fascination with numbers, and always have had numerical names, like 2110 and the 8210, which became iconic. But they outdid themselves when they launched the Nokia X3-02 Touch And Type. More of a sentence than a name!
One of them also came from Samsung. With all due cRedit, the company has launched some very impressive phones over the years, such as the Samsung Galaxy S2. One of the versions of the phone, though, that was released in the US, was called Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. What was epic about it, we wouldn't know. That's not all; Samsung some years ago launched a phone which had a smiley emoticon in it--Samsung :) SGH-T359. Always smiling!
The smartphone market is so attractive, that even Casio, the popular watch brand once tried their hand at making phones. The product they launched was decent, but it was called Casio G'zOne Revie. There should be a contest on pronouncing that name, and maybe win a phone as a reward!
Sony phones are known for being music phones, and their Walkman series was very popular. But one of the models took it too far when they named it Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman. Many could confuse it with a prime time TV show!
Micromax is the biggest Indian smartphone maker., and the home-grown phone company is doing quite well with its Canvas series. But even a die-hard fan of Micromax phones would say no to this one, just for its name--Micromax Canvas Fire 4G Plus Q412.
Lava is another home-grown brands hogging the position in the top phone makers in India. They once named a phone Lava Iris F1 Fuel Mini. Name of a phone? Could as well be a monster truck behind that name.
If we are talking about weird phone names, the recent favorite would be OnePlus. Back in 2014, they launched their first phone and called it OnePlus One. Whats's that? 2? Yeah, just that we didn't mean to pose a math question!
We all agree that we have taken the "SMS language" too far. It's almost an annoyance. So when Cricket released a phone named Cricket Txtm8, you can imagine the quandary its buyers must have been.
