BANGALORE: Philips Semiconductors, an affiliate of Royal Philips Electronics,
has tied up with Silicon Automation Systems Limited (SAS) to co-market the
asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) solutions developed by the latter. The
product is based on the Philips TriMedia TM-1300 processor. According to a
release, SAS Synapse ADSL products provide end-users with high-speed, constant,
interactive Internet access.
"SAS has developed a complete ADSL application using the TriMedia
processor. We chose the TriMedia processor because of its high performance and
sophisticated development tools. Philips Semiconductors has been a valuable
partner in this endeavor, providing SAS with advanced information, technical
support and market opportunities," said Rajeev Agrawal, vice-president at
SAS. " Using ADSL the worldwide access technology of choice, SAS’
solutions enable integrated ADSL access devices such as Internet appliances,
set-top boxes, Gateways, voice over IP and DSLsystems . We expect the price
points of appliances based on TriMedia to be less than US$ 250."
