NEW DELHI: Philips Electronics India Ltd., and Neoteric Infomatique have
decided to part ways, bringing their three-year partnership, to an end. The
decision was taken after Philips began to prefer a regional distribution network
rather than a national distribution model. Neoteric was the sole country-wide
distributor of Philips’ products, until a year ago.
Talking about the recent development, Neoteric sales manager Kaushal Khandor
said, "We had taken this decision a month ago. But we have yet to make a
formal announcement, due to various technicalities. The decision was taken
because we realized that Philips was keen on selling their products through
their consumer electronics channel rather a national distributor."
Neoteric (national sales manager) Sandeep Shah, who was earlier handling
Philips products, says the distribution company had sold almost 15,000 units
last year, accounting for 10 to 15 per cent of Neoteric's turnover.
Neoteric currently distributes Sony's high-end monitors. When asked whether
Neoteric had plans to include other low-end monitor brands to complement their
product offering, Kaushal said "This is a small market after all and sooner
or later, firms will approach us and then we will consider whether we should
carry its products or not."
