Pervasive introduces Pervasive Postgres

Pervasive Postgres, a distribution of the community maintained PostgreSQL version 8, bundles an integrated suite of connectivity drivers and management tools and is distributed as precompiled binaries for popular platforms to ease customer adoption. Pervasive Postgres will be free of charge.






PostgreSQL offers enterprise-ready core technology like views, triggers, stored procedures, and security, and released under the business-friendly BSD license, allowing royalty-free use within commercial settings. Pervasive Postgres will offer formal support, a clear roadmap and technological enhancements designed to help reduce the costs and remove critical barriers facing open source adoption, ensuring that PostgreSQL is suitable for more users.





Pervasive is now working with an extensive team of engineers, testers and support personnel working exclusively on PostgreSQL and related products, in both its Austin, Texas and Bangalore facilities. Improvements made to the core open source PostgreSQL database server will be contributed back to the community.





Pervasive will offer annual subscriptions, which will include support, updates, and value-added tools for Pervasive Postgres. Pricing will range from $99/year per server for basic updates to $4,999/year per server for premium production support. Pervasive will also offer packaged migration services to ease adoption and shorten time to value and professional services around Pervasive Postgres including custom development, database optimization and tuning, and training for developers and administrators.
