Peoplesoft is planning to introduce an ERP package
especially for the Indian SME segment called PeopleSoft India in the coming three to four
months. The company has also signed with PriceWaterhouse Coopers, which is a partner of
PeopleSoft, to provide solutions in the country. The major difference would be the reduced
cost and the special features like provident fund and Indian taxation system. While the
present ERP package costs around Rs. 40 lakh, the new version for the Indian market would
cost between Rs. 20 to Rs. 30 lakh.
This is in keeping with the trend in the ERP where many
companies are refocusing their ERP packages on the SME segment. While earlier ERP was
perceived to be mainly for the big companies and corporates, now small and medium
entrepreneurs have also started going in for ERP implementation.
The company is also planning to introduce this package on
the net. Apart from that, it is also planning to get into the ecommerce bandwagon. The
company is planning to introduce an ebusiness suite in the coming two to three months.
Anil Pathak, Systems Manager, PeopleSoft, said, "Right now ecommerce is not catching
up but we believe that it really be the next buzzword after Y2K thing comes to an end. We
would be launching our ebusiness suite by the end of this year."
