PCCW-HKT partners with Octopus to introduce mobile payment by Octopus

HONG KONG, CHINA: PCCW-HKT has partnered with Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) to introduce Hong Kong's first mobile phone SIM card with Octopus payment function. PCCW-HKT will adopt the proven security of Single Wire Protocol (SWP) SIM cards to serve as the secure element for payment applications running on a mobile phone.

PCCW-HKT's mobile customers can simply insert the PCCW-HKT Octopus Mobile SIM (OMS) into their Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled phones and immediately enjoy the convenience of mobile payment by tapping their phone over an Octopus reader to effect payment.

In addition, customers can also apply for the automatic add value service for Octopus value top-up in association with the relevant credit cards. Through the OctoCheck app, currently available for Android devices, developed by OCL, the OMS supports instant checking of the last 40 Octopus transaction records together with the remaining value.
