40 p.c of Infy freshers are from non-urban areas

BANGALORE, INDIA: Infosys CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan said 40 per cent of Infosys employees are from non-urban areas.

“We were pleasantly surprised that 40 per cent of new employees joining are not from urban areas,” said Kris at a convention organized by IIT Kanpur Alumni Association here on Saturday.

Kris also said that, according to an informal survey, one or either of the parents of the majority of these non-urban area employees have not completed SSLC. He termed the entry into the company of the people from non-urban areas as a “quiet transformation” in changing lives of people and in creating “more middle-class”.

Kris delivered the keynote address at the function because Infosys chairman and chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy, who was supposed to deliver the keynote, suffered a minor injury a couple of weeks ago in one of his knees and he has been advised to take rest.
