MUMBAI,INDIA: IT services provider Patni Computer Systems today said that its SAP ERP implementation for Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan (SSGMS) has been recognised as the 'Best IT Implementation 2008' in the 'Most Innovative' category by PCQuest magazine.
This implementation, at the second largest pilgrimage destination, in Western India was featured amongst thirteen finalists chosen after an evaluation process of an onsite review, a detailed panel discussion and assessment.
Commenting on the occasion, Raghunath Mahalingam, senior vice-president, Enterprise Application Services, Patni said, "This is the first time that a temple trust in India has used SAP ERP as a technology differentiator. This innovative use of SAP ERP backed up by our software competencies and change management program has helped Sant Gajanan Maharaj Temple Trust to improve operational efficiency and bring transparency in financial reporting. We are delighted that the implementation has been awarded the 'Most Innovative IT implementation of the year' and we hope that this recognition paves the way for other non-profit organizations to leverage ERP for greater results."
Although Indian temple trusts are waking up to the benefits of modernisation, SSGMS has harnessed the benefits of technology at a highly strategic level with this SAP ERP deployment in the larger interest of all its stakeholders.
On Patni winning the award, Anil Chopra, editor of PCQuest, said, "The PCQuest Best IT Implementation awards are aimed at identifying IT implementations that are truly a class apart from others. The ERP deployment at Shri Gajanan Sansthan is one such example of innovation, which other religious institutions in the country can follow to bring in greater transparency and build in more trust amidst their followers."
