Parkmobile offers Volvo drivers an easy way to pay for parking

ATLANTA, USA: Parkmobile has announced its app is compatible with Volvo Sensus Connect. This enables users to pay for parking from their smartphones, With a few pushes of the node, drivers will be able to pay for a parking space with an on-file credit or debit card, eliminating the need to touch their mobile phone while driving.

"Parkmobile enhances the parking experience by eliminating the need to swipe a card or feed coins to a meter," said Cherie Fuzzell, CEO at Parkmobile.

While it varies from location to location, in some cases drivers can receive a reminder to their smartphone 15 minutes prior to the expiration of their parking session, enabling them to remotely extend their parking session if they have not exceeded the maximum allowed time.

With the launch of Sensus Connect, Volvo Cars reveals the updated on-board solution for connected services, infotainment, navigation and audio. Now, Volvo Cars truly offers customers a fully connected experience. The cloud-based services allow drivers to find and pay for parking from their car.

The application is based on car2infrastructure communication and points the way of new possibilities when the car starts to "communicate" with its surroundings.

The solution is implemented and operated as a managed service of a global cloud-based solution with regional and central nodes. These nodes enable efficient provision and communication of services and information to the cars.

All in all, the 'cloud' offers great flexibility to adjust capacity and local presence of content based end-user demands. The solution covers all Volvo Cars markets around the globe.

The updated Sensus Connect will be available in all new Volvo models starting in May 2014. Drivers who already have Sensus Connect in their cars today will be offered an update for their system. Parkmobile, for iOS, Android, and other devices, is now compatible the parking functionality within Volvo Car.
