With the increased storage space, falling prices and loads of varieties available, USB drive manufacturers are coming up with unique selling points for their products. One such product is Integral's Splash Drive.

As the name suggests the pen drive is splash proof and shock resistant. It comes in blue, green, lilac, yellow and pink colors and in capacities from 256Mb to 4GB. The body of the USB drive has tactile rubberized casing. This makes it extremely shock proof (we threw it from two floors above; it bounced twice on the ground, and still worked just fine, even after that nasty fall!!).

Integral sells this drive with the USP that it's splash proof. Now splash proof could well mean that it's water resistant, not water proof. We weren't convinced, so we just drowned the USB drive into our office aquarium. We left it in water for over 5 minutes, (fishes started to like it eventually), it still worked perfectly. Just so as to make sure that it wasn't a feat of luck, we put it in water again. It also comes with a chain so that the cap doesn't get lost. I found this very thoughtful as one of the major problems with USB drives is that the caps get lost easily. Check out a video of it drowned in water at http://tinyurl.com/32chbb).

The USB drive comes preloaded with a free security and compression software. The software can be used directly from the drive to create secure encrypted archives. It took 5 minutes to transfer 970MB of data, which is excellent in terms of data transfer.

This USB drive looks very smart with the rubberized casing and blue LED light for data transfer. Although, the drive costs a bit higher than its competitors, but the shock proof and water proof feature justifies this cost full extent.
