Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers (CHWC), a three-facility system based in Bryan, Ohio, recently became the 100th hospital to go live with the integrated financial and clinical software system. With a small information technology staff, the hospital sought a comprehensive yet affordable HIS with the functionality to integrate patient data and revenue cycle information using one platform.

“The challenging economy, meaningful use requirements and rapid pace of healthcare reform require that we use technology as a strategic lever in order to be successful,” said Greg Slattery, vice president & CIO at CHWC. “Our strong relationship with McKesson gives us confidence that we can meet these industry challenges and, most importantly, provide the best care possible to our patients.”

CHWC was able to deploy Paragon at three facilities within 16 months of contract signing. The new healthcare information technology makes patient information — including medical imaging, nursing and ancillary documentation — available electronically, enabling better decision making and faster time to treatment. In addition, hospital financial management solutions help streamline patient registration and billing processes.

“The fact that we have reached 100 implementations of the Paragon system proves that hospitals are recognizing the need for an affordable HIS that will allow them to quickly and easily implement electronic health records,” said Jim Pesce, president, Paragon, McKesson Provider Technologies. “With Paragon, we’re proud to offer a solution that will help hospitals across the country improve financial performance and the quality of patient care.”
