Panasonic unveils "Pocketable" Windows tablet

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Panasonic Corporation today expanded its Toughpad range of tablets with the launch of world's first Fully-rugged 7-inch Windows Tablet - the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1 at the CES 2014 in Las Vegas.

This latest offering from Panasonic is a high performance ‘small form' gadget and is equipped with the latest Intel Core i5 vPro processor and Intel Celeron processor, said a company release.

Targeted at the enterprise segment, the Toughpad FZ-M1 is the world's lightest* and thinnest* ‘pocketable' tablet, weighing approximately 540g (1.2 lbs).

This latest addition to the Toughpad series features a 7-inch WXGA capacitive touchscreen display (1280×800 pixel) and runs on Windows 8.1 Pro operating system. Powered by a Intel Core i5 vPro processor (1.6GHz) and Intel Celeron processor, the device has 4 GB RAM, which can be extended up to 8GB.

The tablet has a 5 megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 2 megapixel autofocus webcam for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, optional 3G/4G LTE, USB 3.0 port, optional Smart Card Reader, optional Barcode Reader, optional NFC, Magnetic Stripe Reader and optional Serial Port. It has a Li-ion 3220mAh battery that will provide up to 8 hours of battery life. The Toughpad FZ-M1 measures 203 mm x 132 mm x 18 mm and weighs 540 g (1.2 lbs).
