PAN Aadhar link: Last date is 31st Dec 2019

On September 28, 2019, the Ministry of Finance shared a notification of extending the deadline for PAN Aadhar link till December 31, 2019. Earlier this deadline was September 30, 2019.

Its November and only one month is left to link PAN with Aadhaar. If still, you have not linked, then do it immediately because as per law you won't be able to use your PAN.

What if you won’t link Aadhar with PAN?

After the deadline 31st December, your PAN will become inoperative. However, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has not clarified the manner in which PAN will become inoperative. However, it is likely, the person who has not linked Aadhaar with PAN, the person can be treated as an individual without PAN.

Without PAN Aadhaar link the person won't be able to conduct financial transactions, where PAN is mandatory.

The government has bigger plans with this PAN Aadhaar linking. This will help both individuals and the government.

When Aadhaar and PAN are linked, the person can have only one PAN card, hence no chance of duplicacy. This will also reduce the chances of bank fraud.

Income tax department would get transparent information about individual earnings.

Aadhaar-PAN linking will ease income tax return e-filing. This linking will remove the requirement of receipt of the ITR to the IT department or its officials.

This link will help to get one summarized report of individuals’ taxes attached to their unique identification number for future reference.
